For the 2025 European Heritage Days , the Grand Château d'Ansembourg was transformed into a special meeting place for all those interested in nature, living heritage, and sustainability. Under the European theme "Living Heritage and Transmission ," this year's event highlighted the importance of skills, ecological traditions, and citizen initiatives that connect our past to the future of the continent.
Among the committed actors present on site, Coeur Vert Luxembourg (CVL) held a stand for two full days, attracting a large number of curious visitors, families, associations and enthusiasts of natural heritage.
A booth to inform, raise awareness and connect audiences
The main objective of our presence was to publicize the actions carried out by CVL during the year , both on the African continent and in Europe, and to present our future projects , in particular the reforestation program in Ivory Coast planned for 2026 .
To offer an immersive and educational experience, our team has installed several interactive elements , allowing visitors to visualize in a concrete way:
the effects of soil degradation;
the transformation of a landscape before and after reforestation;
the impact of trees on biodiversity and the water cycle;
The links between African reforestation and European climate issues.
These initiatives were particularly appreciated, especially by children, who were able to understand how each tree planted contributes to global change.
An essential partnership: Heritage Roses Luxembourg
A highlight of this edition of Heritage Days was the collaboration with Patrimoine Roses Luxembourg , a long-standing partner association and essential financial supporter of our environmental projects.
Their presence at the roseto: tradition, know-how and awareness
The association was also present during the event with a stand set up in the castle's rose garden , where it offered:
handcrafted products derived from roses;
botanical and historical explanations;
demonstrations related to the conservation of old varieties.
This moment allowed visitors to discover an often overlooked aspect of Luxembourg's heritage: the history of roses in the country , once exported throughout Europe.
The association's mission
Patrimoine Roses Luxembourg works to protect, restore, and promote historical rose varieties , some of which were endangered. Their work is essential for preserving:
botanical diversity;
traditional horticultural know-how;
the cultural and landscape memory of the Grand Duchy.
The Rose of Ansembourg: A rediscovered symbol
One of the jewels brought back into the spotlight thanks to the association is the Rosa d'Ansembourg , an old variety intimately linked to the grounds of the castle that hosted the event. Its rediscovery and reintroduction into the gardens constitutes a powerful act of living heritage , directly linked to the theme of the 2025 edition. Seeing this rose come back to life where it had disappeared deeply touched visitors — and reminded them of the importance of preserving what makes up the soul of our landscapes.

A warm thank you to our volunteers
We extend our immense thanks to the volunteers of Coeur Vert Luxembourg , who ensured a continuous presence at the stand during the two days, sharing their expertise, passion and energy. They were able to create a real space for dialogue, explain the progress of our projects, raise public awareness and convey our values of solidarity and commitment.
The parallel with the forestry situation in Luxembourg
A major theme addressed during the event was the increasing fragility of Luxembourg's forests . The country is facing:
an increase in diseased trees
repeated droughts,
destructive parasites,
a progressive loss of biodiversity.
This local reality has reinforced the idea that our reforestation projects in Africa must go hand in hand with actions in Luxembourg.
The 2026 objectives: to strengthen our actions across the national territory
In parallel with the launch of the reforestation program in Ivory Coast in 2026 , Coeur Vert Luxembourg wishes to intensify its initiatives in Luxembourg , in particular:
reforestation and planting of resilient species;
educational projects in schools;
the restoration of degraded natural areas;
strengthened collaborations with local municipalities and associations.
Our vision is clear: a global commitment must be accompanied by a local commitment .

Conclusion: a living heritage that we build together
Coeur Vert Luxembourg's participation in the 2025 Heritage Days demonstrated that heritage is passed on, maintained and regenerated. Thanks to our volunteers, our partners like Patrimoine Roses Luxembourg , and a curious and engaged public, we experienced a powerful moment of exchange and inspiration.
We will continue our mission, convinced that every tree planted, every species saved, and every act of raising awareness builds the heritage of tomorrow . 🌿🌹🌍
